Voice Recognition Systems Home > Open Letter

Voice Recognition Systems would like to thank all of our clients for 18 successful years of business providing quality speech recognition solutions to our clients. We've seen tremendous strides in technology over the past 18 years and with the price of computer systems dropping drastically and becoming more affordable to everyone, advances in software and hardware technology have made talking to your computer easier, faster and more accurate then ever before. Keep an eye on our site for further details. You might want to bookmark our page for easy reference.

When Voice Recognition Systems was founded 18 years ago, nobody had established a web site to market speech recognition or even talk about it for that matter. We knew we needed to fill that niche so Voice Recognition Systems web page went on line in 1994 and became the worlds first web page for speech recognition.. At that time we had to dial long distance into a server just to receive our e-mail! Things have certainly changed since then. Later we secured a domain name now known as www.talktoyourcomputer.com

How we decided to design the business model was to be an organization that focuses on the needs of our clients rather then just taking orders from what then just becomes a customer. What really is the difference between a customer and a client anyway? If we look at Webster's Dictionary, both are nouns but a customer is defined as one that purchases a commodity or service, a client on the other hand is (1) a person who engages the professional advice or services of another or (2) one that is under the protection of another. With this in mind anyone who does business with us is a client because we render professional advice and services and attempt to protect the client from making a wrong decision.

What had to be established then was what kind of business model were we going to use? Marketing on the web wasn't commonplace and nobody was doing it for speech recognition so we had to develop the business model from scratch. To this day nobody has written a book on how to market voice recognition. Maybe we should because we don't like the way most companies approach this business. Speech recognition is still somewhat new to the marketplace and people who don't know about different speech recognition software packages that are out there purchase "off the shelf" retail store solutions that just don't work. The cheap/low price solutions do not get the job done and we have proved this over and over again. Those who decide to go down that road, let us say buyer beware to you in advance! Biggest disadvantage being you get no technical support, training or help.

We've turned away business because we didn't want the headaches or unhappy clients that would most certainly would have been the result of it. Every week we get calls from people who have bought "bargain basement" speech software from mass market discounters telling us that they can't get it to work on their system. They are not aware that these are products that fall into several different categories that range from outdated, old or crippled versions of speech recognition software that come with $5.00 microphones and that will not be supported by anybody after the sale.

If you are a medical, legal or other business professional who needs timely output and accuracy then "essentials", "standard", "preferred" or bargain types of software products will not get the job done! Roughly 25% of our client base were those who had originally purchased those type of products and then achieved very poor results using it. The manufacturers sell this lower end type of software because they need mass consumers to purchase it because it affects their bottom line on their balance sheet. Does the lower price software work? That's an answer that falls in between yes, no and maybe but it doesn't work very well and you'll spend more time correcting mistakes then you will getting any productive work done. Most of our converted client base who now use our Professional, Medical and Legal products told us that by the time they went back and corrected the mistakes (those who even got it to work decently) it would have just been easier to type the document manually!

Our web site is of simple design. We wanted it to also be informative and easy to navigate. Unlike other web sites we tend to focus on speech recognition and the products and solutions that go with them as that has contributed to our success. We do not sell products that will not ensure your success and the only products we do sell are thoroughly tested and carefully thought about before they are ever offered to our clients. We do not just put up SKU numbers and sell hundreds of products because we believe if you are going to sell and support end user solutions then you should know your product well. You can't be an expert if you sell 500 different products on your web site! If you would like our help in making your speech recognition solution a success, please do not hesitate to contact us toll free at 800-631-8255 or international inquires call 859-266-2800.
